Recently, Lilly took a big, moving box and made it into a rocket. She has been on many rescue missions in her "rocket." When she goes on a trip to space, she calls me from her phone that she has made using a paper plate and taped it to her helmet. She is so creative.
Then, the other day we went to the mall and our friend gave her 3 quarters so she could ride the rocket at the mall. She had a blast pretending she was headed off into space (although she didn't like the lightning on the screen while she was going).

Chuck E Cheese
My daughter has a chore chart. Each day she does all the jobs I ask her to do, she gets a sticker on the chart and a quarter for the day. When she fills up the whole sticker chart, she gets to pick a "big prize!" One time is was a bike and one time it was a trip to Cici's Pizza. This time it was a trip to Chuck E Cheese. She filled up the chart on a Friday, so naturally she wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese the very next day, but there was no way I was going on a Saturday. So, we agreed on another day during the week when it would be less crowded (that is what I was praying). Thankfully, it was very empty when we went and it actually turned out to be a nice time. Bonus, I got a bunch of cute pictures of my beautiful girl out of it.
Showing off one of her prizes!
A quick picture with Chuck E!
Free Tickets for the 5 kids who were there!
Chuck E wanted a picture with me too - a little weird!

Pioneer Day
A nearby park had a super fun event called Pioneer Day, where people got to "experience" what it was like to live in the 1800's. There were all kinds of neat things to do - face painting, rope making, candle making, dressing up in 1800's clothes, tasting freshly churned butter, grinding corn, playing games that children played back then, watching a reenactment of a battle between Mexico and Texas, washing clothes, hayrides, listening to music, making bonnets, axe throwing, and much, much more. It really was a very educational and enjoyable event and the best part was it was free.
Here are some pictures from our time at Pioneer Day:

Shower vs Bath
When your child is a baby, there are lots of firsts - first bath, first solid foods, first time they roll over, etc. Once they get into the preschool years, it seems there aren't as many "firsts".
We had a first the other night. Lilly wanted to take a shower. It was one of those moments where I thought how am I going to wash her if she is in the shower (unless I get all wet). I thought she isn't old enough to take a shower, is she?
Then, I realized that she was quite capable of washing herself with a bit of instruction. So, I proceeded to get the shower running and she got in. I would give her a step like, "Get your whole body wet." She would do it and say, "what's next, Mom?" I couldn't believe it, she managed to take a shower by herself - my 4 year old.
So there you have it - Nov. 6, 2012 - Lilly's first shower. *tear*

Set Her on Fire?
I have slacked in writing my blog posts, but instead of trying to go back and figure out what I missed I'm just going to keep moving forward. :)
On Nov. 6, we went to the Texas Renaissance Festival with some friends. It was one of the days set aside for school kids. The only thing Lilly and I had looked up before hand were costumes of that time because she wanted to dress up, so upon arriving, she and her friends were a little overwhelmed by all the costumes, decorations, etc.

They got to experience:
Dressing up like fairies - and a tiger. :)
Swinging in the giant pull swings!
Watching and cheering for our knight during the jousting show.
They were terrified when the juggling act said they were going to set a member of the audience on fire, but were quickly reassured that they were kidding.
The food - fish and chips and a giant turkey leg!
Riding an elephant.
We definitely had a lot of fun, but I have to admit I am not planning on taking her back until she is a little older.

Tumor in Our House
She makes a cupcake out of playdough. It is a very odd shaped cupcake. So, jokingly I say, "It looks like it has a tumor."
She says, "What's a tumor?"
Mommy says, "Something that isn't supposed to be there." (I realize it wasn't the best definition, but it is what I could come up with at the moment)
After thinking a few minutes, Lilly says, "We had a tumor in our house before, remember?"
Mommy says, "We did?"
Lilly replies, "Yes, you know, the raccoons!"
ha ha ha ha :)

Circus Party
We went to Blockbuster one day - yes, they still have those around here - and there was an advertisement for a Madagascar 3 circus party. My daughter is obsessed with clowns and circuses so naturally she sees the flyer and asks, "Can we go?" The flyer says face paint, games, and snacks. We go and it turns out to be a really small party, but it was fun! They had popcorn and cotton candy for her as soon as we entered. The man who was in charge of the festivities was wearing a clown wig, so that was a definite plus for Lilly! She played pin the tail on Gloria and made a Melman mask. The highlight was getting her face painted and her hair spray painted green! Super fun for a free event!
